THE SCALE OF THE PROGRAMME

More highway is being built, faster, than at any point before

India's national highway network expanded more than 60% in a decade, from 91,287 km in 2014 to over 146,500 km by the end of 2025. NHAI beat its FY26 construction target by 15%, building 5,313 km against a spend of Rs 2,44,362 crore. Under Bharatmala Pariyojana, the flagship highway programme, roughly 22,223 km had been built by February 2026 against 26,425 km awarded, with the balance targeted for completion in FY27. For FY27, NHAI has already identified a further 54 highway and expressway projects covering 2,442 km and roughly Rs 1.80 lakh crore of capital investment, spread across 13 states.

INDIA · FREQUENTLY ASKED

Asked in every first call

We work across NHAI, CPWD, and a state PWD project at the same time. Does each keep its own rules?
Yes. Every project carries its own contract family profile, so the notice period, particulars deadline, and claim format are specific to that project, not shared across your portfolio.
Can amounts display in lakhs and crores instead of raw rupee figures?
Indian projects can display contract value and cost figures in lakhs and crores notation as an option, alongside the plain rupee figure.
Our claims usually only get real attention once arbitration starts. Is this still useful before that?
That is exactly the gap it targets. A contemporaneous hindrance register kept from day one is stronger evidence than anything reconstructed once a dispute is already underway. Recent NHAI arbitration outcomes have made that gap very visible; see our post on the hindrance register for the specific case data.
Does this work for HAM projects, not just EPC?
Yes, Hybrid Annuity Model contracts carry their own contract family profile alongside EPC, reflecting HAM's different payment and risk-sharing structure.
What about metro and rail packages, which aren't NHAI at all?
Metro and rail EPC packages typically follow similar hindrance-register and correspondence-heavy conventions to NHAI and CPWD, and the register and evidence locker work the same way regardless of which authority is on the other side of the contract.

Draft for expert review

DraftMyEOT is not a law firm and never claims to be. Every output is a draft, built to be reviewed and signed by your contracts lead or consultant.

Nothing invented, ever

No dates, events, or clause numbers appear that you did not supply. Every paragraph shows the evidence reference it was built from.

Your data, walled off

Each company's workspace is isolated, documents sit in private storage, and consultants see only the project they were invited to.
